"If life gives you lemons, make apple juice and make people wonder how the hell you did it."

It's definitely a Thanksgiving for the record books - here's something to make it feel a little more special!

Imagine sitting by the fire with homemade apple cider for the kids and an alcoholic version for the adults! Perfect with the addition of cinnamon sticks for sipping. Easy to make and festive.

  • large apples

  • apple cider, either homemade or store-bought

  • optional: cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, allspice and/or star anise for garnish

  • optional: lemon juice

  1. For each cup use a knife to cut off the top of the apple.

  2. If apple is unstable, cut of a small portion off the bottom to make it even.

  3. Use a melon baller or sharp spoon to hollow out the inside of the apple. Leave about 1/4' rim around outside. Be sure not to let your knife pierce the bottom or sides of the apple, or the cider will leak out!

  4. To serve fill with your favorite drink. Add cinnamon stick for fun sipping.

*Tip: To avoid browning brush cut part of apple with lemon juice.
